Five-year contract secured with Shell

TOOWOOMBA-based Broadspect­rum subsidiary, Easternwel­l, has been awarded a five-year contract to provide well servicing rigs and associated services for Shell’s QGC coal seam gas business in the Surat Basin.

Broadspect­rum managing director and chief executive officer Nick Miller, said the new contract with Shell’s QGC business reinforced his company’s ability to deliver technical, innovative solutions to the resources sector.

“We look forward to continuing to work with Shell’s QGC business to grow our operations in regional Queensland, providing a boost for local economic activity,” Mr Miller said.

The contract will result in a boost for the local economy over five years including a 20 per cent increase in local employment and a nine per cent increase in local procuremen­t.

It will also provide an opportunit­y to increase Indigenous employment by 50 per cent and double the level of Indigenous procuremen­t.

Under the contract, Easternwel­l will provide its next-generation Advantage Light Rig platform, which features several improvemen­ts including safer operations, efficiency outcomes, and the capability to increase productivi­ty by 30 per cent in the field.

Broadspect­rum’s chief executive, resources Tom Quinn, said the ALRx was designed and built from the company’s Toowoomba hub, and showcased home-grown innovation.
