Social club raises money for much needed new equipment

-

PETER WOOD (aka The Piano Man) entertained residents and guests at a recent high tea held at Palm Lake Resort Toowoomba in aid of the Toowoomba Hospice.

The resort’s social club hosted the event at the new Pinnacle Country Club.

Palm Lake Resort Toowoomba social club president Mrs Betty McCredden said, “When we (the social club) asked for volunteers to host a table for the high tea, we were overwhelmed with the response.

“We provided white tablecloths for all the tables and each hostess had to do their own table setting with lovely china etc.

“I want to congratulate the ladies as the Pinnacle Country Club looked extra special that day.”

More than 180 attendees raised $3209 towards a new syringe driver which will assist in pain management for clients at the hospice.

“We are pleased with the result and very appreciative of all the wonderful volunteers here at Palm Lake who contributed to making it possible to give this donation to Toowoomba Hospice,” Mrs McCredden said.

The money was handed over to the Toowoomba Hospice chairman Graham Barron OAM by representatives of the Palm Lake Resort Toowoomba social club.

Graham Barron said the Hospice relies tremendously on social, community and service clubs and groups.

“This is part of the make-up of our hospice, all these wonderful local clubs and groups along with the local businesses play a major role in supporting us in maintaining our vision to provide safe, high quality palliative and respite care based on mutual respect, trust and individual needs,” he said.
