Big S Santa sale in its 44th year

-

THE 44th Big S Santa Sale is coming up on Thursday, September 6, with approximately 40 bulls and 10 classified santa heifers on offer.

“We have a smaller number catalogued due to the seasonal conditions,” promotions and marketing manager for the sale Glenn Holt said.

“The sale vendors have elected to reduce their sale offering to just the very best of what they’ve got.

“The emphasis this year has been on quality rather than numbers.”

There will be 10 stud vendors represented from Queensland and New South Wales.

Over 70 per cent, of the cattle are polled and include class winners from Beef 2018.

“All bulls are blooded for easy entry into the tick areas. All bulls are vet and semen tested,” Mr Holt said.

“This year we have introduced a breed classifier inspected sale.

“So all lots will be inspected by the breed classifier at the sale to ensure their soundness and breed standards are correct.”

Lot 1 will be Santalands Paula who will be auctioned, with all proceeds going to LifeFlight.

The sale starts at noon at the Toowoomba Showgrounds.

“The sale has developed a great reputation over the years for being one of the best value for money sales on the selling calendar,” Mr Holt said.
