Forest country ideal for cattle

NORTH Burnett breeding and fattening property The Gorge, with a freehold area of 2915 hectares, is 54 kilometres southeast of Monto, 59 kilometres north of Eidsvold, 46 kilometres west of Mount Perry and Bundaberg is 150 kilometres away.

The homestead and yards are seven kilometres off the bitumen Mount Perry-Monto Road.

The country comprises 283 hectares of former softwood scrub originally timbered with bottletree and brigalow, developed to pastures of buffel, panic and rhodes grass.

The balance of 2630 hectares is creek flats rising to ridges.

Timber along the flats is blue gum, moreton bay ash, appletree and broadleaf ironbark with blood wood and narrow leaf ironbark along the ridges and patches of spotted gum.

Pastures in the forest country are soft natives.

Baywulla Creek runs throughout the length of the property with permanent holes.

All paddocks have permanent surface either from dams or creeks plus four bores supply tanks and troughs.

Structural improvements

include two sets of yards, low-set modern homestead and numerous sheds.

The owners consistently carry 700 head from breeders to bullocks, joining 330 breeders and taking the progeny through to bullocks and heavy feeder weights.
