BJF’s sale clearly a success
BJF Limousin owners Bradley and Jodie Frohloff were pleased to announce that the stud’s recent on-property sale achieved a 100 per cent clearance.
Held on August 17 at BJF’s Yarraman property, the event was the second annual bull and female sale held at the stud’s purpose-built sale complex.
Bradley Frohloff said he was extremely happy with the well-attended sale.
“We are absolutely over the moon that in tough, dry conditions we have been able to get 100 per cent clearance,” he said.
Mr Frohloff said more than 150 people had attended the sale, with 60 registered bidders present in person or by phone.
“We sold animals as far north as Sarina in Central Queensland, and as far south as Colac, in Victoria,” he said.
The stud presented 44 bulls, and 10 females.
The top price fetched among the bulls was $16,500 for Downfall Grants Martini, owned by Peter and Pauline Grant and sold to Laurence Jones of Theodore.
The average price for bulls on the day was $6114.
BJF Yankee Spice Girl, owned by the stud, fetched the top price of the female showing, selling for $6500 to George Massam of Beaudesert.
For the sale, a strong emphasis was placed on polled genetics with the majority of the catalogue being polled, and featuring bulls with softness and the ability to lay down fat at an early age.
“This modern type of limousin is really starting to make its mark in the industry,” Mr Frohloff said.
Success being enjoyed by the breed includes vendor MK Cattle Limousin’s recent champion grass-fed steer win at the Callide Dawson Carcass Competition with a purebred limousin steer.
Earlier this year, BJF Limousin customer Don Russell won champion pen of crossbred steers at the Stanthorpe Blue Ribbon Weaner Sale with limousin cross steers by BJF and A.T Limousin bulls.
