Three units on battle-axe block proposed to TRC
THE Toowoomba Regional Council will consider a set of units for one of the city’s landlocked suburbs.
Applicant Classy Homes this week submitted an application to build three units on a battle-axe block on James St in East Toowoomba, which is also the Warrego Highway.
According to the planning report by McLaren Design, two of the units would be one storey and two bedrooms, while the third would feature three bedrooms over two storeys.
“(Units one and three) are proposed to include a single garage, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Unit two is proposed to be two storey and will include a single garage, three bedrooms and two bathrooms,” the report said.
“Each unit is proposed to have a minimum 16sq m (of) private open space directly accessible from the living areas.
“Clotheslines are proposed within the private open space.
“Refuse bins for each unit are located within their respective private yard or in a screened refuse bin enclosure at the end of the driveway.”
The report argued the application met the council’s planning scheme for low-medium density residential zones.
The battle-axe block, which councillors have in recent years tried to discourage within Toowoomba’s inner suburbs, was approved by the TRC in 2016.
As it is code-assessable, residents won’t have a formal chance to make submissions on the application.
