Chef provides helpful tips
SENIOR hospitality students from Christian Outreach College had the guidance of one of Brisbane’s top chefs to help them prepare for their final assessment.

Mark Bashinsky visited the school to pass on his knowledge to the Year 12 senior hospitality students.
Mr Bashinsky won the 2014 HostPlus Hospitality Scholarship which allowed him to travel the world to learn from various restaurants.
The chef helped the students prepare recipes for their final assessment of the hospitality course.
Christian Outreach College student Kayla Spies said she had learnt a lot from the chef.
“Some of the recipes being prepared include chocolate orange mousse with an orange curd and a yoghurt sorbet with a ginger bread crumble and poached strawberries,” Kayla said.
Mr Bashinsky said the students cooked very well on the day.
“I’m really here to give them a little hand in the professional sense such as taking them through plating.
“We also went through how to turn a home style recipe into a restaurant dish and what is required to raise to that standard.”
Christian Outreach College teacher Mark Anderson said he was proud of what the students had achieved during the course.
“Today’s workshop is in preparation for the students’ final assessment where they have to design and prepare a three course meal,” Mr Anderson said.
“I’ve been really impressed with the work the kids have done in preparing for the event.”
