High tea supports hospice
PALM Lake Resort Toowoomba’s social club hosted a high tea with entertainment by the Piano Man (Peter Wood) recently at the resort’s new Pinnacle Country Club.
Palm Lake Resort Toowoomba, social club president Mrs. Betty McCredden said when the club asked for volunteers to “host” a table for the high tea, it had been overwhelmed with the response.
“We provided white tablecloths for all the tables and each hostess had to do their own table setting with lovely china etc. I want to congratulate the ladies as the Pinnacle Country Club looked extra special that day.”
The club had donations of a luckydoor prize and other prizes to raffle.
Funds raised were handed over to Toowoomba Hospice chairman Graham Barron by club representatives. With more than 180 attending the high tea, an impressive $3209 was raised to go towards a new syringe driver, which will assist in the pain management for clients at the hospice.
Mr Barron said the hospice relied tremendously on social, community and service clubs/groups.
“This is part of the make-up of our hospice. All these wonderful local clubs and groups along with the local businesses play a major role in supporting us in maintaining our vision to provide safe, high quality palliative and respite care based on mutual respect, trust and individual needs,” he said.
