It’s all about the location

The Cossarts say it’s Middle Ridge’s proximity to shops, schools and amenities which makes it the number one suburb to live in

-

BARBARA and George Cossart have lived in Middle Ridge for about 23 years and watched the suburb develop into what it is today.

“We were the first permanent occupants of this house. Back then, almost all the houses along here were display homes. We’re out on the fringes now, but we were pretty much in the middle back then,” George said.

“We’ve really seen this suburb expand,” agreed Barbara, who added the homes and housing estates in the area were beautiful.

For the Cossarts, the proximity of amenities, parks and schools, was a big part of their enjoyment of the area.

“We’re five minutes from Kmart, the Ridge Shopping Centre and Aldi and, apart from the bigger shopping centres, we also have quick access to a couple of small shops and centres in the area. We have doctors, chemists and hairdressers, and everything is so close,” Barbara said.

Despite not having any school-aged children, Barbara and George agree having as many schools in the area is a good thing for the future of the suburb.

“The beauty of living here is also because of the schools, the daycare centre and the kindergarten up the road. Having schools in your area is an asset,” Barbara said.

According to the Cossarts, Middle Ridge’s space, greenery, and established trees, is what makes all the difference between this suburb and newer ones.

“The blocks here are a reasonable size; they’re not all jammed together,” commented George, with Barbara adding most homes in the area have gardens and trees.

“It’s an ex-farming area with good red soil. If you leave your finger in the ground too long, it starts to sprout,” joked George.

The good soil in the area allows for the establishment of beautiful parkland every couple of blocks. Barbara believes having parks in your neighbourhood is a big plus for aesthetic purposes and enjoyment.

“When our grandchildren were younger, they used to stay with us for the holidays and they loved going to Middle Ridge Park,” she said.

The Cossarts said, if they had to do so again, they would still buy a home in Middle Ridge.

“I wouldn’t hesitate to buy in Middle Ridge again. It’s a beautiful, clean, and leafy area,” Barbara said.
