‘‘ THERE ARE A NUMBER OF KIDS PLAYING ON SATURDAY WHO WE’LL WATCH PLAYING NRL AND INTRUST SUPER CUP IN YEARS TO COME. TJRL PRESIDENT DAN ALDONS

RUGBY LEAGUE: The brightest young rugby league talent will be on full display at Clive Berghofer Stadium at this Saturday’s TJRL’s grand final day.

The day will also have a special significance with all eight clubs represented on the day.

“It’s the first time in my memory that we’ve had every club represent, and it’s a phenomenal achievement,” TJRL president Dan Aldons said.

“It shows that the league is healthy in terms of there isn’t one club dominating and drawing players off everyone else.

“Oakey and Pittsworth were lean on player numbers but worked hard to turn it around and now have qualifying teams for the grand final.

“It’s a big achievement in terms of numbers compared to bigger clubs.”

With the day featuring numerous players who have gone on to the elite level of the sport, Aldons said it served as an inspiration for those running out at the weekend.

“Grand final day is a show- case of the league and is the pinnacle of the season,” he said.

“There’s a lot of kids who have played in grand finals who have gone onto bigger things.

“Ash Taylor and Brodie Croft are two who have both played on grand final day, and there’s a lot filtering through to Intrust Super Cup.

“There are a number of kids playing on Saturday that we’ll watch playing NRL and Intrust Super Cup in years to come.”

With eight games of action starting from 8.30am, Aldons said fans would be treated to a spectacular day out.

“So far throughout the finals we’ve seen some absolute cracking games of football. There’s a close competition in all grades and there will be eight exciting and high standard games of rugby league,” he said.

“The weather is looking fantastic and we’re anticipating a brilliant day of rugby league.”
