Aspirations building for young stars

-

ATHLETICS: Sometimes a little help is all it can take to put a smile on somebody’s face.

Aspirations4Kids in Sport works to do just that through breaking down the barriers that exist for children with disabilities or disadvantages looking to get into sport.

General manager JulieAnne Dietz said the group was honoured to be helping out the Clifford Park Special School.

“We provide funding assistance for kids to go to Queensland School Sport or School Sport Australia events,” she said.

“Our criteria sits around families in need facing financial hardship, disability or chronic illness.

“Aspirations4kids in Sport has provided funding assistance amounts that will fully cover uniform, levy and photo costs for all 12 students.

“Strong support from Darling Downs Regional Sporting Officer, Wayne Beetson should also be commended for his strong support of these students ensuring that they are transported down and back to Brisbane by bus for each day of the event.

“Classroom teacher Michael Pratt should also be noted for making this happen. Michael, on top of his teaching duties, put through 13 strong and detailed applications that went a long way to the approval of this funding. He continues to chase paperwork, arrange training sessions and support these students to compete.”
