Little Big Shots SEVEN, 7pm

Observing precocious kids flaunting their unique talents isn’t going to give everyone the warm fuzzies. On Little Big Shots, cutesy moments rule the roost, with enthusiastic host Shane Jacobson amounting to a big, cuddly teddy bear. The endearing thing about the show is that there is no judging or critiquing – all the kids are free to shine without the pressure of a competition. In tonight’s finale, if a segment involving kids and camels can’t raise a smile, surely nothing can. There’s also a soccer trickster, an amazing flamenco guitarist, a pole acrobat and an abstract artist. To top it off, there’s a professional yo-yoer, too.

The Block NINE, 7pm

Featuring the latest gadgetry, appliances, benchtops and cabinetry, tonight’s kitchen reveals are much more than a gander at the “heart of the home” – they’re a lesson in how to splash the cash. There’s a lot at stake in tonight’s judging, with design experts Shaynna (pictured), Neale and Darren critically aware that once a kitchen is finished, it’s very hard (and expensive) to rectify any mistakes. But for the winning team, their perfect score – the first this season – wipes away any worries. It’s not all shiny benches and top-of-the-line ovens, though. After two of the teams make a deal, their pact splits the block in two.

20 Years On Death Row SBS, 8.30pm

This is an American crime documentary with a French twist. French journalist Agnès Buthion became fascinated with the case of Californian truck driver Keith Zon Doolin, who has been on death row since 1996 for the shooting of six sex workers, two of whom died. In this four-part doco, Buthion – who also directed the episodes – interviews Doolin, visits the crime scenes and analyses police documents. Fastidious and clear-eyed, it’s particularly interesting to gain an outsider’s view of the crime and the case.
