AWARD-winning Sky News political editor David Speers will host a star-studded business luncheon in Toowoomba at the end of the month.

The Business Council of Australia has partnered with Sky News and News Ltd, which owns The Chronicle, to deliver a series of top business meetings across the country.

The Toowoomba edition of the Strong Australia forum on September 27 will feature Wagners Holding Company chairman Denis Wagner along with representatives from Energy-Australia and the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia.

BCA chief executive Jennifer Westacott said it was a good opportunity for business owners to learn from some of the industry’s leaders.

“We’re in Toowoomba to have a conversation about how and why business is the lifeblood of our communities, and when business thrives, the community and Australia thrives,” she said.

“Business – big and small – are the mainstay of communities by providing jobs, opportunities, investments, and responding to change.

“The objective of the Strong Australia series is to travel outside the city centres of Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra and talk to Australians about the issues that matter most to them.

“Business employs over 10 million people in Australia – if we want to keep that job creation happening, we need to create the right opportunities for them, especially in our regions.”

The forum will include a lunch from 12.30pm followed by the live TV discussion program from 8pm, both of which will be hosted by Mr Speers.

The Strong Australia forum is being held at Picnic Point, Toowoomba.
