AFTER THE LAST

-

THE WIN

ON A HIGH has been around the money and finally put it together yesterday for her third career win. The mare could be one to follow as she continues to make her way through the grades.

THE TRAINER

BEN CURRIE had a number of chances throughout the day, but left it until the end of the day to finish on a winner. Currie took home a treble in the last three races.

THE RIDER

LEAH KILNER kept her hot run at Clifford Park intact with a riding treble. She rode a double at the last meet and backed it up. Her ride on Fionnlagh in the last was a pearler.

FROM THE STAND

Race 1: A great betting race to start off the day. There was good money early for Lope For Joya at $5. Say I Cee saw money each-way at $6.50. The money went on off-course for Top luck at $3.80 and then the money came on the phones with a bet of $1200 at $3.60. The winner in Just Favulous was ridden a treat by Les Tilley and got the bookies off to a good start.

Race 2: Another strong betting race; with the money going on Awesome Katie and there was a cash bet of $1000 at $2.35. Hot Corona was backed each-way at $10. Razzy was backed pre-post and the oncourse bookies saw money at $6.50. The winner in Boss’s Boy was a drifter on and off course and paid well on the totes.

Race 3: A small field with a lot of interest in most runners. The bookies did it the old fashioned way in laying the two short priced runners and getting the split with the winner in I Am The Warrior at odds. I Am Warrior started at $9 and paid unders on the tote.

Race 4: A quiet betting race here; with small specking for Cupid’s Affair and Queen Of Havana. The favourite in Tony’s Decree was a big drifter and very hard to lay. The bookies were $2.30 at jump time with no takers. The winner in Starcaster was a small result for the bookies.

Race 5: Another race where the bookies got to lay most of the runners. There was fair specking for Brassy Belle and The Showman. The bookies pushed out the price with On A High and the connections stepped in and took the $3.50 to give the bookies a loss here.

Race 6: There was early money for Stormy Grey and the bookies had to bet $3 to lay District. The winner in Dreamscope was well backed from $2.3 into start $2.05.

Race 7: A quiet betting race with all the interest on Captain Leo; there was $3.40 bet early and then the money came in on the phone with one bet of $1000 at $3.20 for a bad result for the bookies.

Race 8: Here there was early specking for Singapore Fling at $15. Then the phone money came for Mister Spinks, backed from $2.30 into $2 with one phone bet of $2000 at $2.20. Spectrums Rhythhm was supported at $6. The winner in Fionnlagh was a drifter with some smaller bets at $4.80. This sent the bookies home with a small win.
