AFTER first finding success with The Lego Movie, Warner Animation Group’s latest offering transports cinema-goers to a magical frozen land.

Yes it has ice and singing, but Smallfoot is no Frozen.

This fantastical, but more grounded animation centres on a community of yeti who live in isolation on a mountaintop above the clouds.

These furry creatures live in harmony, following the rules laid out by their ancestors on sacred stones.

But their idyllic existence is rocked when Migo (Channing Tatum) encounters a mythical smallfoot – a pilot who survives a plane crash.

Determined to discover the truth, he sets out to prove to his tribe that humans really do exist by descending below the clouds into the great unknown.

He eventually encounters wildlife presenter Percy (James Corden), who sees Migo as the saviour of his failing TV career. But Migo learns not all humans are accepting of his kind.

It’s a cute premise and the animation is dazzling. The musical numbers are a bit underbaked and unlikely to become cherished sing alongs at home.

There’s a lot of physical humour and colourful action to entertain the little ones, but parents are likely to get a bit bored about halfway through.

It’s no Pixar or Disney film, but Smallfoot does drive home the key message about the importance of honesty and curiosity.
