Sprintcars in 50-lapper

Toowoomba gears up for marathon

-

SPEEDWAY: This Saturday night at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway, the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship celebrates an historic 100round milestone and competitors in the BK Trading 50-lapper “Rumble on the Mountain” now have an extra incentive to win.

Since it was created three seasons ago in 2015, the “USC” competition has paid out hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money and attracted the best drivers in Australia, New Zealand and also the US across four states of the country.

This Saturday some 28 teams will contest the gruelling 50-lap A-Main that is a fitting backdrop for the 100-round championship milestone.

After his thrilling comefrom-behind victory on opening night at Toowoomba Speedway, Mount Gambier’s Steven Lines will look for a rare back-to-back winning streak at the tough Toowoomba highbanked circuit.

The man he led home, Robbie Farr, will have the same victory agenda on his mind though.

Farr and Lines have some serious competition however in this second round of the “USC QLD” and 50-lapper with multiple Queensland champion Andrew Scheuerle looking to avenge a disappointing home-track Toowoomba opener by his own standards.

The man who finished third on opening night at Toowoomba is also the major sponsor for this Saturday night’s 50-lapper – Brent Kratzmann.

Kratzmann showed plenty of potential in his September 15 drive finishing in the top three and will come into this Saturday night’s “Rumble on the Mountain” as a wild card along with former 50-lapper winners David Whell and Danny Reidy.

Withcott star Peter Lack returns on Saturday night after completely destroying his car on September 15 before bouncing back to finish on the podium in Brisbane with a new car the week after.

Saturday night also sees the first event of the Toowoomba season for the V8 Dirt Modifieds along with AMCA Nationals, mod lites, Formula 500s and lightning sprints.

Racing starts at 6pm with gates opening at 3 o’clock.
