IT’S a stud that produces quality bulls and the humble movie star.

Bremer Vale Brahmans, from Mount Walker near Toowoomba, were just one of 228 studs with their best red and grey bulls on offer at the Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale. The stud’s owner Michael Peters said he felt confident going into the sale.

“They did attract a bit of interest,” Mr Peters said.

“We prepared our bulls by feeding them for about 120 days before the sale on a mixture of grains and some good hay.

“Prices were a bit higher than I expected them to be because of how dry it’s been.”

Mr Peters said he was impressed by the condition of the bulls at the sale.

“The quality is right up, people have had to lock their bulls up and hand feed them because of the drought so that’s lifted them a bit,” he said.

“It’s been a bit of a positive for feeding them but not so much for breeding.”

While the bulls looked good to they eye, there was something else catching the interest of potential buyers.

Two years ago Mr Peters was approached by animal wranglers for the film Jungle which starred actor Daniel Radcliffe, well-known for his role in the Harry Potter films.

“We chose Bremer Vale Wexford the Radical because he was the quietest bull we had at the time,” he said.

“Even though it wasn’t a huge film we still appreciated the opportunity because when people see a bull they want know who it belongs to.

“You’ve always got to try and get your name and your bulls out there so we’d definitely do it again.”

The movie was filmed in

Mount Tambourine near Brisbane.

“There’s one scene he was in he was being lead through a forest with a halter on and it was really clever the way they made it look like he wasn’t wearing one at all,” he said.

“There was another scene where Daniel Radcliffe’s character was inside a McDonald’s restaurant and the bull is in there with him.”

He said despite the all of the commotion of being on the film set, the bull handled things very well. “It was quite amazing how quiet he was, it didn’t phase him at all,” he said. “They wanted him to walk into the restaurant and look right at Daniel and he did it.”

It won’t be the last time seeing the bulls from Bremer Vale Brahmans on screen.

“One of our bulls will be featuring in an upcoming Holden ad,” he said.

“It hasn’t filmed yet but the bull will be standing in the middle of a road and the car has to stop dead in front of it.”

Mr Peters’ two grey bulls sold at CQLX for a gross of $15,000, with both of his red bulls selling after going to print.
