Vultures set for leading showdown

-

GRIDIRON: The Toowoomba Valleys Vultures are under no illusions about the task at hand tomorrow.

They come up against a rampant Brisbane Rhinos team in round eight action of the South East Queensland Gridiron season.

To date, the Rhinos have been the standout team of the competition, winning all six games by an average margin of 51 points.

After a tough outing against the Gold Coast Stingrays, prior to the long weekend, coach Andrew Seddon is hoping for an improved performance from his offence.

“This week we’ve just been focused on repetition from the guys,” Seddon said.

“It’s now the second half of the season and we have the advantage that we played so poorly during the first round that other teams didn’t get a good look at what we can do.

“We pretty much know that they can run and hopefully we can execute a lot better.

“Our offensive line is going to be under pressure this week. The Rhinos like to blitz heavy so we’ll be working hard with the interior line to identify the blitz and slide protection.

“If they do it gives the quarterback and wide receivers time to do their job.

“As long as the boys have a bit of fun and execute well. Heads start to drop with dropped catches, poor throws or not doing their assignments, so we’re focused on individual goals.”
