A WOMAN viciously assaulted on the side of a Warwick road has given police a description of the man believed to have attacked her.

Detectives yesterday made public a computer-generated image of a man with brown eyes and full-beard in the hope someone in the community will recognise him.

Darling Downs Detective Inspector Lew Strohfeldt said police were treating the serious assault on the Warwick woman, aged in her 20s, as an opportunistic but isolated crime.

“It’s very concerning that it’s a person unknown to the victim and very violent,” he said.

“So we’re seeking assistance from the public if anyone had seen anything in that area (to come forward).”

The woman’s white 1996 Nissan patrol station wagon broke down on Rose St when, about 6.15pm on Tuesday, a man stopped to help. Moments later she was knocked unconscious.

THE serious assault of a woman on the side of a road in Warwick by a fake Good Samaritan is being treated as isolated and opportunistic.

A computer-generated image of a man matching the description given to investigators by the victim has been released in the hope someone in the community will recognise him.

Darling Downs Detective Inspector Lew Strohfeldt said any information provided from the community would be investigated.

“The violent nature (of the incident) is very concerning,” Inspector Strohfeldt said. “He’s been opportunistic. “The thing is people like this, what they do is cause alarm.

“If people break down on the side of the road, most people who stop and try to help them are genuine in their desire to do so.

“This is horrific for the victim and also causes mistrust in the wider community.”

The Warwick woman, in her early 20s, was brutally attacked about 6.15pm on Tuesday after her car broke down on Rose St.

A man driving a white ute with silver tray back and sides stopped to offer to help the woman.

He later slammed her head into the car and left her unconscious by the side of the road.

The woman was driving a white 1996 Nissan patrol station wagon with a bull bar and scrub bars.

“Warwick is a tight-knit community so if anyone in that area has seen anything, I ask they help the investigation,” Inspector Strohfeldt said.

Phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
