Sessions to reach more opportunity

HOW Toowoomba businesses can secure work or financial benefit from the multi-billion dollar Inland Rail project will be showcased at an industry event next month.

Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise and Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce has worked with the business community in recent months to position it to secure work on the project.

Next month’s TSBE Enterprise Evening will further those discussions now the Public Private Partnership register of interest has opened.

“With such a major infrastructure investment creating thousands of jobs we will see businesses across every industry benefit,” TSBE chief operating officer Stacey Burrell said.

“Not only will local contractors be able to put their best foot forward for opportunities working in the project but indirectly we’re also going to see our cafes, accommodation providers, real estate agents, retail shops, schools and all sectors receive the flow through benefits.

“The multiplier effect of an investment at this level will be huge for our region.”

The extended enterprise evening on November 15 at the Armitage Centre will include presentations from Australian Rail Track Corporation Queensland delivery manager Rob McNamara and ARTC PPP director Tony Lubofsky.

“There’s going to be thousands of jobs created throughout this project and anything of this size requires full-spectrum services,” Mrs Burrell said.
