10 THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND

1. AUSTRALIAN CAMP OVEN FESTIVAL

When: Today, 8am to 10pm and tomorrow, 8am-5pm

Where: Millmerran Showground­s THE Australian Camp Oven Festival is a weekend of great family fun that celebrates Aussie cultural bush heritage.

Kids can be part of the damper throwing or billy boiling competitio­ns, while adults might like to try their hand at making a damper or even putting together a team for one of the friendly cooking competitio­ns.

Visitors are encouraged to slow down and savour the country pace and choose to do as much or as little as they like, you can sit back while watching the cooking demonstrat­ions, or enjoy the arts, crafts, and old working machinery.

2. NURSERY OPEN DAY

When: Today, 8am to 2pm Where: Crows Nest Community Nursery

TOOWOOMBA Regional Council is encouragin­g residents to grab a bargain at the Crows Nest Community Nursery Open Day, with hundreds of native plants up for selection to plant in that spot in your garden.

The open day will also provide community members an opportunit­y to purchase plants that are indigenous to the Toowoomba regional area.

3. TOOWOOMBA INTERNATIO­NAL TENNIS TOURNAMENT

When: Today and tomorrow (all day)

Where: Toowoomba Regional Tennis Centre – USQ

THE Hutchinson Builders Toowoomba Internatio­nal is a multi-award winning profession­al tennis tournament that is part of Tennis Australia’s Australian Pro Tour.

Held at the Toowoomba Regional Tennis Centre – USQ, the event provides opportunit­ies for the world’s rising tennis stars to compete for prize money and all important world ranking points. This is truly an event of internatio­nal standing delivering a week of entertaini­ng tennis and associated community activities.

4. REGIONAL MOVIE NIGHT — OAKEY

When: Today, 7pm to 9pm

Where: Arthur Shooter Park, Stanley St, Oakey

COME along and watch Coco for free at Arthur Shooter Park. Movie starts at 7pm.

Food and drink available for purchase. BYO camp chair or picnic rug.

5. ARREBATO ENSEMBLE

When: Today 7.30pm

Where: Armitage Centre (Empire Theatre)

DON’T miss modern flamenco infused with jazz, classical and blues.

Arrebato Ensemble is contempora­ry flamenco with edge.

Led by acclaimed flamenco guitarist Greg Alfonzetti and Damien de Boos-Smith (cello and guitar), the long-time collaborat­ors are joined by Byron Mark (cajon and percussion), and dancer Chachy Peñalver, founder and director of Sydney Flamenco School.

This new line-up creates passionate­ly moving performanc­es combining incisive ensemble playing, masterful solos and the beauty and power of flamenco dance.

The group’s first CD snared them the Best World Music Artist at the MusicOz Awards, performanc­es at WOMADAdela­ide, Sydney Festival, Apollo Bay Music Festival, Sydney Opera House and Internatio­nal Australian Festival of Chamber.

The second CD Absolución was launched at the Sydney Opera House in 2011 to a sell out audience and also enjoyed rave reviews.

6. ROCKSTOCK 2018

When: Tomorrow, 10am to 4pm Where: Helidon

THE 11th Annual Rockstock family fun day will be held in Helidon on Sunday from 10am to 3pm.

Frontline band Salt will be playing rock ‘n’ roll hits from the ‘50s and ‘60s.

There will be rock ‘n’ roll dancing displays, classic cars and gourmet food stalls. Admission by gold coin.

7. SUNDAY TRAIL WALK

When: Tomorrow 7am to 8.45am Where: Ravensbour­ne National Park COME and explore the best that Toowoomba’s trails have to offer.

This Sunday you can explore Ravensbour­ne National Park Trail.

The walking group will walk the Palm Creek Circuit – approx 4km round trip.

This trail has beautiful towering trees, palm groves and trickling streams.

The group will meet at the Ravensbour­ne National Park carpark off National Park Road.

It will depart at 7am and return by 8.30am.

The group will then meet at the local cafe Emeraude for brunch.

8. LOST TRADES FAIR

When: Today and Tomorrow, 10am to 4pm

Where: Cobb and Co Museum DON’T miss Craftsmans­hip, skill, tradition, forgotten arts and rare trades.

At this event you will find authentici­ty amd meet the makers. If you love bespoke, handcrafte­d, artisan trades and skills, do not miss this event.

Find out about traditiona­l trades and gain an insight into forgotten crafts and skills.

Artisans will demonstrat­e their traditiona­l trades throughout the entire event. The same trades and exhibits will feature on both days and artisans will sell handcrafte­d wares at the fair.

There is a wonderful range of local food makers selling delicious fresh food and refreshing drinks.

There is an ATM on-site.

9. ROYAL BULL’S HEAD INN OPEN DAY

When: Tomorrow, 10am to 4pm Where: Bull’s Head Inn, Drayton THE Toowoomba Branch of the National Trust of Australia invites everyone to the Royal Bull’s Head Inn to view a porcelain doll display, by a local collector.

Entry is $7 for adults, $5 for concession and children (5-12years), $20 for a family and free for National Trust Members.

10. JAZZ IN THE GARDEN

When: Tomorrow, 12.30pm to 2.30pm

Where: Kingfisher Cafe and Restaurant (333 Spring St, Toowoomba)
