V8 Dirt Modifieds to make season debut

-

SPEEDWAY: Tonight heralds the first event of the Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway season for the V8 Dirt Modifieds – the class that has its 2018-19 Australian Championship in January at the Wirths Rd venue.

Former national champions Mark Robinson and Andrew Pezutti will lead the line-up as teams prepare for the nationals later this season.

The field also includes Ray Klarich, Kevin Stow, Graeme Holland, Russell Knight, Ray Eggins, Terry Leerentveld, Trent Schofield, Geoff Phillips, Klinton Hancey, Marcus McKenzie, Zac Macdonald and Trev Wiley.

Also on the program are AMCA Nationals, Mod Lites, Formula 500s and Lightning Sprints.

Australian F500 Champion Liam Williams will attempt to win two consecutive Toowoomba feature races after scoring on the September 15 opening night.

Tonight’s Ultimate Sprintcar Championship round field is a mixture of veterans, exciting newcomers and established racers looking to add the 50lapper to their win inventory.

Twenty-eight teams will contest the gruelling A-Main that is a fitting backdrop for the 100-round championship milestone.

■ THIS morning between 8am and noon, fans have the chance to catch Lachlan McHugh and his sprintcar at Hughes Car Sales on the corner of Ruthven and Lawrence Sts in Toowoomba as part of a promotional display.

The car of Steve Lines is also scheduled to be there.
