‘Busy and fruitful year’ for chamber as AGM approaches

- JO SHEPPARD Chamber CEO

AS WE reflect on what has been an incredibly busy and fruitful year for the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce and our members, we prepare for our AGM lunch which will be held on Tuesday, October 30.

Members of the Toowoomba Chamber are invited to attend, and you will have received an invitation via email.

The AGM will be a great opportunity to reflect the year that has been, hear from the chamber’s executive as well as from our guest speaker on the day, Dr John McVeigh MP.

We are very lucky to have a dedicated group of local professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to serve on the board of the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce.

Members of the chamber board represent a broad range of sectors and are passionate about the future of the Toowoomba business community.

In accordance with the Toowoomba Chamber’s constitution, we have two vacant board positions this year and are seeking representatives from our membership to fill these seats. There have been five nominations for the two vacancies and as such an election process is currently under way.

Chamber members will receive ballot papers via the post this week, information on the five board candidates and instructions on how to vote.

It is a very positive that we have had strong interest from representatives from our membership who wish to contribute to the future strategic direction of the Toowoomba Chamber.

Advocating on behalf of our membership and the Toowoomba business community is an important role for chamber and it is really important that we continue to attract strong representation on our board.

As such, I would encourage all chamber members to keep an eye out for the election papers in the mail this week, carefully consider each of the five candidates and make sure you return your vote.

All completed ballot papers must be received by the chamber office no later than Monday, October 22. The elected nominees will be notified directly and announced at the chamber’s AGM lunch on October 30. I look forward to seeing members at the chamber’s AGM lunch and join our board in reflecting on the year past but to also turning our attention to what is on the horizon for the chamber, our members and the Toowoomba business community.
