Wednesday 3rd October the women played an 18-hole stroke in conjunctio­n with the October Monthly Medal. Winner of Div 1 and the Monthly Medal was Margaret Muir with a 66 Nett. The winner of Div 2 were Jaynie Brown and Hazel Harvey with a 68 Nett. The runner up was Jaynie Brown with the run down going to Hazel Harvey. Pin on No 3 was won by Hazel Harvey, Approach on 9/18 was Dawn Bradford with the winner of the Putts being Margaret Muir with 23 putts. The winner of the Thursday Sporter’s was Danny O’Brien with 28pts, and the pin was won by B Fenton. Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th October the members played a 2 Person Ambrose. The winners were George Wright and Andrew King with 64 ¼ Nett, with the runner up being Andrew King and Colin Fisk with a 66 Nett. Last week Thursday October 4 we held the Dudley and Joan Stafford Shield afternoon. It was a great afternoon for the club. The winners were Joan Stafford, Judy Wilson, Margaret Tronc and Maria Batholomew. Next Friday night October 12 at TIBA Annand Street it is the TIBA Knockout Championsh­ips Rinks. Players are Marie Kelly, Selwyn and Margaret Tronc, Kaylene Weir, Betty Williams and Maria Batholomew. We hold our fun days on Thursdays afternoons at Groom Park Hall, Neil Street, from 12-30pm to 3pm. New.

The DDLBA Major/Minor Triples conducted last week resulted in a win for the West Toowoomba Ladies, L. Weir, I. Brumpton, T. Foster with 51 points, The runners-up were Toowoomba Ladies G. Mitchell, R. Farr, K. Pott with 43 points. Many thanks to our Life Member D. James for your generous sponsorshi­p of this event. The Combined President’s Day held last week was interrupte­d by some welcome rain, but lots of laughter was heard in the clubhouse and a happy andsuccess­ful day was enjoyed by all who attended this event. There have been some changes to the players selected in the Challlenge Match (v) Brisbane North. Cost for the day will now be $30/players, $22/non players which includes the bus fare. The bus will depart from Rome St, West Toowoomba at 6.15 a.m. Spectators and supporters are welcome to join us. DDLBA President’s Day on Friday October 5 at our club was a huge success in spite of the much needed rain, but no one minded at all. A big thank you to all the workers who worked so hard preparing for the day beforehand and again on the day. Upcoming event: Prestige Pairs weekend October 27 and 28. This event needs many volunteers. Please if anyone can help in any area both before and during the event, please put your hand up. Co-ordinator Christine Plater or Diane van Zeeland would be very pleased to hear from you. Friday Ladies Day. Morning tea 8.45am play 9.30am. Men most welcome. Tuesday afternoon self selected mixed or otherwise Jackpot Pairs. Saturday afternoon mixed social bowls. New players most welcome. Coaching for new players available each Monday and Thursday 3.30pm. Wednesday afternoon - Men’s bowls. Ladies are most welcome. Please note for all afternoon bowls you must register to play by 12.30pm for a 1pm start.
