Highfields signs new coach for next season

-

RUGBY UNION: Highfields has already begun their 2019 Darling Downs Rugby Union competition preparations.

Club president Nick Kelly said the Redbacks would be coached by Ted Vinson (pictured) next season.

Vinson, who was the club’s A-grade assistant coach, will replace Cameron Donaldson.

“Ted was assisting our inaugural A-grade coach Cameron Donaldson for the last two seasons,” Kelly said.

“With Cam stepping down we are very pleased that we can maintain continuity in coaching and continue to build our club and our performance.”

Kelly paid tribute to Donaldson for taking on the mammoth task of building an Agrade team from scratch.

“The Redbacks will be eternally grateful for the commitment and effort that Cam has put into our club over the last two years,” Kelly said.

“It has been tough to say the least but against all odds he has managed to put a team on the field for every game over two seasons.

“As far as Cam is concerned, we don’t count the number of wins he has had as coach as a measure of success, it has been his ability to bring together a bunch of rough diamonds and build them into a team.””

In 2015 Vinson was awarded the ARU National Community Coach of the Year.

‘‘ THE REDBACKS WILL BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL FOR THE COMMITMENT AND EFFORT THAT CAM HAS PUT INTO OUR CLUB...
