10 THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND

1. TOOWOOMBA EAST STATE SCHOOL FETE

When: Today, 10am to 3pm

Where: East State School, Arthur and Mary Sts, Toowoomba

There will be heaps of fun things to do at the fete, including dunk-a-teacher, bucking bull, giant swings, mini jeeps, reptile kingdom, sideshow games, market stalls, animal farm, food and a huge raffle.

Entry is free.

2. PITTSWORTH WINE AND FOOD SPECTACULA­R

When: Today, 9am to 5pm and Sunday, 9am to 1pm

Where: Pittsworth Town Hall auditorium

A total of 53 exhibitors will showcase their quality, handmade Australian products.

For free admission, you can enjoy Devonshire teas, light lunches and tour the prize-winning spring gardens.

The event includes garden stall, barbecues, food and drinks, live entertainm­ent and children’s activities.

Those wishing to attend are asked to bring their own bags to the festival.

Business windows will be decorated and visitors are encouraged to check out the stained-glass windows at the heritage-listed St Andrew’s Anglican Church.

3. CHANGE OF FLOWER MARKETS

When: Today, 3pm to 6pm Where: Toowoomba Christian College, New England Highway, Highfields

Admission is free and there will be more than 40 market stalls offering everything from clothing and homewares to crafts and much more, plus food vans, activities for the kids and free face painting.

Raffles and lucky door prizes will all aid the work of Cancer Council Queensland.

4. WESTBROOK FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT

When: Today from 5.30pm Where: Bunkers Hill State School Hall The Westbrook Focus Group will show the movie Ferdinand.

Entry is a gold coin donation. Spuds, popcorn and drinks will be available.

5. OKTOBERFES­T STREET PARTY

When: Today from noon to 10pm Where: Blank Space, The Mills Precinct, 291 Ruthven St

A space born to host an Oktoberfes­t festival, Blank Space will have everything you need to keep the party going all afternoon and well into the night.

Expect the warmth, fun and cheer of a classic German beer hall, in addition to hearty meals and delicious snacks throughout the day.

The Cooreyosit­y Group is all about families, so children are welcome under the supervisio­n of a responsibl­e adult until 4pm.

At that time, Oktoberfes­t by Blank Space will become an 18-plus event. This event is ticketed only. Tickets will be available to purchase at the door but at a higher price.

6. TOOWOOMBA OKTOBERFES­T FESTIVAL

When: Today 11am to 11.59pm

Where: The Bavarian Grand Central

The Bavarian will transform into the bier-tents of Bavaria with an Oktoberfes­t event.

Attendees can expect official Oktoberfes­t biers, keg taps, Oktoberfes­t games like stein-hoist-and-hold and toss the saus, costume competitio­ns, live entertainm­ent, kids activities and feasting menus.

There will also be souvenir steins,

free T-shirts to take home and the crowning of the the two best dressed on the day — the king and queen of Oktoberfes­t.

7. SHREK THE MUSICAL

When: Today 1.30pm and 7.30pm, Sunday 1.30pm

Where: Empire Theatre

What’s big, green, lives in a swamp, and is performing in the Garden City this weekend? Shrek The Musical!

This Tony-Award winning production is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film and brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on the Empire Theatre stage in an all-singing, all-dancing, must-see musical comedy.

8. WALK4BRAIN­CANCER TOOWOOMBA

When: Tomorrow, 8am to noon Where: Queens Park

The city of Toowoomba will support the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation with its fourth Walk4Brain­Cancer, starting with a butterfly release at 9am. Registrati­ons on the day start at 8.30am.

The trail will then head off on a 2-5km walk around Queens Park, rememberin­g those who have lost their battle, support those fighting and raising funds to ultimately find a cure.

Sit back on the picnic rugs and enjoy

some tunes, food and company and support from people who understand.

9. BLUSH ON THE COURT

When: Tomorrow, 10.30am to 3pm Where: Toowoomba Internatio­nal Tennis Centre - USQ

You can enjoy the finals of the men’s and women’s Hutchinson Builders Toowoomba Internatio­nal with a lunch tomorrow.

It starts at 10.30am, with a compliment­ary glass of champagne on arrival and the opportunit­y to mingle with tennis greats past and present.

Show your support and help raise funds for Blush Cancer Care Inc, supporting Toowoomba’s only private breast care nurses.

10. MURPHYS CREEK CHILLI FESTIVAL

When: Tomorrow from 10am to 4pm Where: Jessie Lane, Murphys Creek

Don’t miss Queensland’s original, biggest and best chilli festival with Australia’s finest chilli companies and chilli themed stalls.

Vendors will sample and sell hot sauces, cool beers, mild jams, wild chilli chocolate, fresh world food, spring chilli plants, seeds, powders, pastes and rubs.

Watch and laugh or join in the fiery fun with chilli challenges.

You can also listen to live music and hear insightful talks.

There will also be something for the kids including a petting zoo, pony rides, wildlife care, rides and games.
