- MEGHAN HARRIS meghan.harris@thechronicle.com.au

A SMALL corner store just outside Toowoomba is known for its delicious burgers, and its customers want you to know.

Gowrie One Stop Convenience Centre at 29 Old Homebush Rd, Gowrie Junction has operated under various forms and owners for 40 years.

Kerry and Clint Weber took over the store two years ago, and as well as selling fuel and a selection of groceries, it also sells amazing tasting burgers.

As part of The Chronicle’s best of series for 2018, Facebook readers were asked to nominate their favourite burger joint in Toowoomba.

Gowrie One Stop Convenience Centre was voted number one, praised for its tasty burgers and friendly staff.

Mr Weber said all ingredients for the burgers were sourced locally.

“The secret is ingredients sourced fresh and locally prepared with love and a passion to produce good food for our customers,” he said.

“The most popular is our works burger and the next would be the kandy corner chicken burger where the chicken is made using our special in-house recipe.

“Our burgers stand out because they represent such good value for money and of course they taste great.”

The burger range starts at $8 for a traditional burger.

He said their main customer base was the Gowrie community as well as people from surrounding areas.

“We also have a strong contingent of tradespeople who visit regularly. Some will even go out of their way to come here,” he said.

“We would like to say a very big thank you to our loyal customers and those who took the time to vote for us. I know they have busy lives and to take time out to do this is humbling.”
