1. TOOWOOMBA BUTCHER SUPPLIES BARBECUE BATTLE

When: Today noon to 8pm

Where: Toowoomba Showground­s Proudly Sponsored by Toowoomba Butcher’s Supplies, 20 teams will battle in the greatest low and slow cook off of the Darling Downs in the second Toowoomba’s BBQ Battle.

$3000 in prize money and trophies will be awarded across four categories: pork, lamb, chicken and beef.

This competitio­n is part of Brews and Barbie Bash. Throw on your best party shirt and make a day of it!

2. STATE INDOOR HOCKEY UNDER 18 CHAMPIONSH­IPS

When: Today from 8am, tomorrow from 7.50am

Where: University of Southern Queensland (Clive Berghofer Centre)

Indoor representa­tive hockey teams from around Queensland will be converging on Toowoomba to play the indoor version of hockey, which has been making great inroads in Toowoomba recently.

The U18 Men’s Indoor State Championsh­ip games will be played on hard floor rather than on the turf or grass hockey is normally associated with.

3. CROWS NEST DAY

When: Today 10am to 4pm

Where: Centenary Park, Crows Nest Come and see the famous worm races - including human worm races the Calcutta and Grand Old Crow Hotel Cup. Local bands, buskers, singers and UDance performanc­e.

Carnival rides to suit all ages including super slide, rockwall, cup and saucer, mini jeeps, land train, lost temple and mechanical bull.

4. TOOWOOMBA NIGHT OF HORRORS

When: Today from 6pm to 10pm Where: Toowoomba Showground­s Family fun night with carnival rides, food, magicians and horror mazes.

The Night of Horrors was born out of the ever-increasing popularity of Halloween in Australia, coupled with the fact that people want entertainm­ent and somewhere to take or send their kids for a safe night out.

The Night of Horrors is a place that families can go for safe Trick or Treating. You are allowed to dress up — but you do not have to. Guests are NOT permitted to scare other guests on the night.

5. CABARLAH MARKETS

When: Tomorrow from 7.30am to 12.30pm

Where: Cabarlah Sports Ground, New England Highway.

The monthly Cabarlah Markets are on again this Sunday with musical entertainm­ent and all the popular food outlets will be operating.

6. CHARITY JAZZ BREAKFAST

When: Tomorrow 9am to 11am

Where: DownSteam Tourist Railway and Museum, 16 Cambooya St, Drayton

Toowoomba Hospice is celebratin­g 15 years of service to the Toowoomba and the Darling Downs by providing safe quality care and support in partnershi­p with the community for those with a terminal illness so come and enjoy the hospitalit­y of the DownsSteam volunteers serving their famous Aussie breakfast while listening to Camillo, Bernard and Mark playing jazz.

7. MINIATURE STEAM TRAIN AND MODEL T BUS RIDES

When: Tomorrow from 10am to 2pm

Where: Highfields Pioneer Village, 73 Wirraglen Rd, Highfields

Come and ride Myrtle May the Miniature Steam Train at the Highfields Pioneer Village or have a vintage bus ride on Henry the Model T Ford bus built in 1924 which can take 12 passengers at once.

8. YOUTH CONCERTO 2018

When: Tomorrow from 3pm

Where: St Lukes Anglican Church cnr Ruthven and Herries Sts

Some of Toowoomba’s finest young instrument­alists will make beautiful music together for a good cause this weekend. Toowoomba Strings will present Youth Concerto 2018.

The program features many well-loved works including Concerto for 2 Violins in D Minor by Bach, Winter from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and the dynamic Concerto Grosso for Strings Orchestra and Piano by Bloch.

This is the eighth year the concert has been held to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation, a cause that’s close to the hearts of the Toowoomba Strings community.

Instrument­al music teacher and violinist Rod Egerton was diagnosed with leukaemia almost a decade ago, and his wife Celia decided to hold a concert each year as a way of saying thank you to the Leukaemia Foundation for their support and raise funds for families living with leukaemia.

9. QUEENSLAND POPS ORCHESTRA - AMIGOS PARA SIEMPRE

When: Tomorrow 3pm to 6pm Where: Empire Theatre Pavarotti, Carreras and Domingo — The Three Tenors catapulted arias like Puccini’s Nessun Dorma to hit single status. They redefined the musical performanc­e landscape and their vocal combinatio­n became the stuff of legend. Not to be outdone, Patrick Pickett and the mighty Queensland Pops Orchestra revisit the artistry of this winning sound with Gregory Moore, Nathan Kneen and Adam Lopez.

10. BLUE MOUNTAIN HOTEL CAR SHOW AND SHINE

When: Tomorrow 11am to 2pm Where: Blue Mountain Hotel

This year all funds raised go to the Toowoomba Hospice Foundation.

Face painting with Cleo the Clown; live music until 4pm; jumping castle with Bounce Me Happy; live airbrushin­g demo with Oggy’s Airbrushin­g; loads of great raffle prizes and lucky door prizes.

All car clubs are welcome. If you want to enter your car, be there by 10am. It’s a $5 entry fee for each car to be paid at the gate.
