THOUSANDS of Toowoomba residents have been busy voting over the weekend for The Chronicle’s inaugural Bachelor and Bachelorette.

When The Chronicle asked eligible singles to get in contact with us as part of a series of articles which focus on residents looking for love, the response was overwhelming.

More than 1000 people were nominated, and about 50 people answered a questionnaire and sent a photo into The Chronicle.

The profiles of about 30 were featured in Saturday’s and yesterday’s newspaper.

The Chronicle featured every profile with a completed questionnaire and photo received by 5pm on Thursday.

The next step is for residents to vote for who they think should be the The Chronicle’s inaugural Bachelor and Bachelorette.

Since Saturday more than 3000 people have voted in our polls, and there are already some clear front runners.

Tim Swinson, a Toowoomba photographer and Simon Merange also a photographer and filmmaker are in the running for the top spot with about 40% of the votes each. When it comes to the women, Emily Dewsbury and Aleisha Cowan are taking the lead.

Since our front page story on Saturday which featured two singles Erin Flemming and Marshall Hanson, both have received an outpouring of messages from men and women interested in taking them on dates.

The pair don’t have any dates lined up at the moment, but Mr Hanson said he was happily chatting to his potential partners.

Readers can head to www.thechronicle.com.au and the poll is located within the story titled “Vote for Toowoomba’s inaugural Bachelor and Bachelorette.”

Voting will close next Wednesday, October 31 at midnight.

The Chronicle will then announce the winners in the newspaper, on our website and Facebook.
