Big smiles at Big W Anissa Marney

-

I GREW up in Toowoomba as a child but moved to Sydney for four years, but I couldn’t resist and decided to move back.

I moved back to be close with my family and because I enjoy the culture of country towns.

All the farmers around here are very friendly and easy to talk to.

When I was living in Sydney I got to experience the beautiful side of traffic, so I really like that Toowoomba has a lot less traffic.

I like to spend my spare time with my horses named Connie and Trot.

Connie is three-years-old who I am just starting to break.

I grew up with horses and I find it relaxing after a long day of work.

I find it clarifying.

Before my family and I moved to Toowoomba in 2006, we lived in the cotton capital of Australia, Wee Waa in New South Wales.

We moved here because Toowoomba has better schools and more employment opportunities for them when they finish school.

Wee Waa has a population of about 2000 people, so Toowoomba has a lot more to do.

There wasn’t much of an adjustment period because we live out of town.

My family really enjoys camping and the region has some good camping spots such as Somerset Dam, Cressbrook Dam and Cooby Dam.

We’ll be travelling to Bribie Island to camp over the weekend which will be nice.

I have lived in Toowoomba for all my life.

Toowoomba has a lot of good things working for it.

It’s a good central location, the people are lovely, and my family is here, so I have no intention moving anywhere else

There are a lot of things in Toowoomba which make it special such as the Carnival of Flowers.

I don’t really get a lot of spare time being a grandmother of four.

Sometimes I will take my grand children to the coast or a theme park.

I was originally from Dubbo, then I moved to Dalby and then eventually I moved to Toowoomba in 2004.

I really enjoy the lifestyle of Toowoomba; it’s nice and relaxed.

In my spare time I enjoy playing golf, spending time with my children and work on my 1966 mini cooper with my husband and we also members of the mini club in Toowoomba.

My husband and I had a 1962 model before we had children, but we sold it when we had our first child.

An opportunity came up in 2010 for the mini we have now. We spent three years restoring the car from scratch.

We had to take all the panels off to re-spray, replace the ones that were badly rusted and having all the mechanics rebuilt.

It felt great to have the car finally registered.

We usually display the car at shows like the Carnival of Flowers.

I really love driving the mini because it is such a different car to drive. You have to think when driving because nothing is automatic in the car.
