OUR SAY Give local sport your support
THE first of the One-Day Internationals between Australia and South Africa is playing in the background as I write this editorial.
Rolled for a paltry 152, I have a feeling it’s going to be another long summer for us with the Proteas openers already looking quite comfortable at the crease.
Hopefully we tear through them and I’m left with a little egg on my face by the time you read this.
Regardless, I hope to offer a worthy alternative to Toowoomba and Darling Downs cricket and sport fans.
Why not enjoy some local cricket or sport action.
There’s plenty of sport on offer locally and I can assure you it is of a very good quality.
A number of our Toowoomba cricket teams have just wrapped up their Harding-Madsen Shield campaign, two of which have which booked places in the competition’s semi-finals.
Playing against Lockyer Valley and Ipswich teams, Wests and Diggers have advanced to the knock-out stages, victory to both teams would see them play in an all-Toowoomba final.
The competition which features former and current Queensland and Australian country representative players is great to watch and it’s right on our doorstep.
Better yet you’ll be helping grow the sport locally.
A few extra dollars spent here or there at the canteen is always greatly appreciated.
