Refurb attracts new retailers
Facelift at Wilsonton on its way
THE $20 million makeover of Wilsonton Shopping Centre has enticed new retailers which are expected to open their doors in the coming weeks ahead of the completion of renovations early in the new year.
Wilsonton Shopping Centre owner Consolidated Properties Group this week confirmed Cellarbrations, Choice Discount Store, Lifeline and The Royal Bean Cafe have all secured tenancies as a result of improvements to the retail hub.
Consolidated Properties Group head of commercial and retail Kieran Cox said negotiations were also under way with a major restaurant group looking to lease a 200-plus sq m space.
“We are pleased to receive commitments from both national and local brands, which reinforces our decision to fasttrack the major upgrade of the centre,” he said.
“Our renovation program, which includes upgrades to entry facades, additional signage, repainting, new furniture, lighting, fresh landscaping and improvements to roofing and public amenities, will bring Wilsonton Shopping Centre in-line with contemporary retail hubs.
“The aim is to deliver an improved shopping experience for customers and create additional employment opportunities for locals.”
Mr Cox said visitation to the centre was already on the rise, with early Christmas shoppers in for a treat as renovations were well-advanced and on track for completion in February, ahead of schedule.
“We are encouraging local shoppers to compare the before and after for themselves. We are only about two months into our renovation program but we have already made some big improvements,” he said.
“Even though there is construction activity, it’s business as usual at Wilsonton Shopping Centre, with retailers ready for a busy lead-up to Christmas.”
Consolidated Properties Group and CVS Lane Capital Partners started refurbishment of the 18,500 sq m Wilsonton Shopping Centre in September this year.
