New dolls’ dimensions a delight for parents

-

dolls spotted at Kmart recently have parents cheering for being “normal”.

The Anko Glamour Dolls, which cost $4, are being praised for showing more realistic body dimensions than the Barbie and Bratz dolls that have come before them.

Anko, which is the retail giant’s own brand, has released a collection of male and female dolls, complete with adorable clothes for those necessary outfit changes. Each has a different hair and skin colour and is simply but appropriately dressed. Unlike Barbie, they all have flat feet and are dressed in comfortable shoes, and are not wearing make-up.

A mum shared a photo of the Anko Glamour Dolls to popuare lar Facebook group Kmart Mums Australia and the comments were quick to pour in. The original caption read, “Spotted these ‘Glamour Dolls’ today. Same height as Barbie but twice the width, ie, a norNEW mal human size. How good!”

Fellow Kmart fans were quick to comment on how great the dolls looked, praising the look, size and cost of the dolls.

“Realistic dolls. I think they fantastic,” wrote one person.

“These dolls look exactly like my niece. I bought her one with brown hair and it was uncanny. It’s great dolls are starting to reflect reality,” posted an approving aunt.

Other people commenting on the original post were quick however to point out that Barbie has brought out dolls of different shapes, sizes and races over the past couple of years to answer the calls for greater representation in toy aisles.
