DARLING DOWNS CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

-

THE students and staff from the Darling Downs Christian School celebrated the end of a terrific year with a formal dinner Thursday.

The school’s graduating class of 20 students and their parents enjoyed an intimate event at Gip’s Restaurant.

Darling Downs Christian School Head of Secondary Debbie McKay said it was a very lovely night enjoyed by all.

“The students were in charge of the decorations and chose to decorate the venue with a spring theme,” Mrs McKay said.

“During the night all the students made a toast to thank their teachers and parents for their support through the past 12 years.

“There was also a little funny award ceremony where everyone gave each other joke awards which were all tongue-in-cheek.”

Darling Downs Christian School principal Adrian Fitzpatrick said the night’s celebrations were about the students.

“The 2018 graduating class had worked hard throughout the final year of their studies and should be proud of what they had achieved,” Mr Fitzpatrick said.

“I have been to every end-of-year formal since the school began 13 years ago and I have watched and taught some of these students since they were in Year 1 and 2.

“The formal night was a special night to acknowledge the students’ growth from children to young adults.

“Some of the students in this graduating class have had big challenges to overcome in order to complete their secondary schooling.

“I am proud of everything the graduating class of 2018 has achieved and I wish them the best.”
