Joyce Mayne gets behind local families, charities and schools

From special events that help parents choose their child’s device for school, to helping Life Flight and It’s A Bloke Thing, this local store is proud to help their town

WITH Darling Down locals as proprietors and staff, it’s no wonder Joyce Mayne Toowoomba can call itself ‘Town Proud’.

It’s been over a year now since the store renovations, and Computer proprietor Morgan Page is happy with how things have progressed in the Garden City.

“We’re not just another big retailer — we have the big buying power but the metro prices within a country store,” Morgan said.

“We’re here for our locals; to support them and help them,” he said.

In the coming weeks, the store will be holding a special event to help families with the Bring Your Own Device requirements for schools.

“We’ll have a teacher on-site to give advice for those parents who aren’t sure what they should be buying their kids for a school device, or who might get the spec requirements from the school but still aren’t sure how to correlate that with a laptop,” Morgan said.

“We’ll have print-outs from the schools with the spec requirements to match them with the right devices, as well as exclusive deals for local students and a sausage sizzle out the front.

“Not only do we have a massive discount of 20% off computers this weekend, but we’re also giving away a bonus Jedi Challenges headset with each computer, which is like a virtual reality Star Wars headset that normally costs over $200,” he said.

Coming into the Christmas season of course, the stock at Joyce Mayne Computers is brimming with exciting gift ideas.

As well as putting student devices under the tree, Morgan said popular options are drones, cameras, gaming consoles, fitness, and speakers.

“Bluetooth speakers are a huge category for us in Computers this Christmas, because they link with everything now — as well as laptops and tablets, they link with Google so you can talk to them and get them to turn on certain things in the house,” he said.

All the staff at Joyce Mayne have been trained from the ground-up, so they know what they’re talking about and can help you with genuine understanding and friendliness.

Both proprietors — Wayne Peters in Electrical and Morgan in Computers — and their teams complement each other to create the complete Joyce Mayne Toowoomba experience, so you can shop for a new laptop, new fridge, or both in one convenient location.

As Toowoomba locals, Morgan, Wayne and the rest of the Joyce Mayne team get behind charity causes and school raffles throughout the region.

“We support a lot of charity events; Life Flight was the latest big one we did, we also get behind It’s A Bloke Thing,” Morgan said.

“Pretty much any big local event we’re on board with it,” he said.

In the past Joyce Mayne has often supported school events like raffles and competitions, and Morgan is always happy to touch base with local schools to chat about contributions and their computing needs.

It’s clear that Morgan is passionate about his work and his community, and has no intention of that changing.

“We’re here and here to stay,” he said of the store.
