Artisan market proves to be a hit
COBB and Co Museum event coordinator Wendy Green was surprised by the turnout to this year’s Hand Made Under the Stars artisan market.
The museum broke its record for the mostattendees at Thursday night’s annual market.
More than 4000 people attended the markets in the museum.
Ms Green said the market was about safeguarding heritage trades for the next generation.
“We find that people who attend the markets each year not only love getting started with their Christmas shopping, but they also enjoy talking with the artisans about their trade methods and skills,” she said.
“Last night was the seventh year we welcomed the community to the museum.”
There were about 69 artisan held stalls throughout the museum with gourmet Stanthorpe Cheese, Granite Ridge Wines, Metisto Artisan Chocolate and more.
“We start the search for artisans in June each year and take their applications through a rigorous process so that we can be sure we are presenting the very best in hand-made goods from our region,” Ms Green said.
Other hand-made goods at the market included clothing, jewellery, gift cards, candles and more.
Toowoomba musician Mason Watts played a live acoustic set in the Cobb and Co show ring outside.
Ms Green said she looked forward to next year’s market after Thursday night’s success.
