Local real estate agents ‘give life’ to help patients

-

A TOTAL of 15 local real estate offices have joined the second annual Toowoomba Real Estate Agencies Blood Challenge to help ‘give life’ to patients in need this festive season.

Last year, team members from 12 local agencies gave 59 much-needed blood and plasma donations and this year team members are geared up to give even more.

Blood Service spokesperson Sandee Thompson said, "Every donation gives life to a patient in need. It may be a father undergoing treatment for cancer, a mother experiencing a complicated birth, or a daughter diagnosed with an immune deficiency disorder".

The Challenge runs from November 12 to – January 31 to help support the need for life-giving donations over the festive season.

The need for blood, plasma and platelet donations is constant, as each of these amazing components of our blood have limited shelf lives – blood (42 days), plasma (12 months) and platelets (5 days).

The Toowoomba Real Estate Blood Challenge is a key part (Red25) of the Blood Service’s social responsibility program, which unites business, education, sporting and community groups to ‘give life’ through active and regular donation.

David Snow, principal of Peter Snow & Co. is a strong supporter of the Challenge saying, "It gives our teams and local real estate industry a tangible opportunity to give a gift more powerful than money. You never know when a family member, friend or colleague may need such a gift – giving blood truly does feel good".
