Accused on attempted murder

-

A MAN charged with attempted murder arising from the alleged stabbing of a woman in Gatton has had his matters mentioned before Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

Hussain Ali, 57, has been remanded in custody and was not required in court for the mention of his matters.

His solicitor Nathan Bouchier (Bouchier Khan Lawyers) told the court he would seek a full brief of evidence from police and asked that the matter be adjourned for that brief to be compiled.

Police claim the 29-year-old woman complainant, who it is believed is known to the accused, sustained a number of stab wounds to her torso and back during an alleged incident at a Dwyer St home in Gatton about 1.35pm on Saturday, November 3.

The accused man has not as yet been required to enter any pleas to the charges of attempted murder and assault occasioning bodily harm.

No details of the police case have as yet been aired in court.

It is believed the accused man has no previous criminal history.

Magistrate Kay Ryan said she would adjourn the case for eight weeks so the police brief of evidence could be compiled and handed to defence.

There being no application for bail, Ms Ryan remanded Ali in custody and adjourned the case for committal mention back in the same court on February 25.
