New appeal to help Qld fire victims

-

GIVIT has launched a partnership with Westpac to support residents impacted by the recent Queensland bushfires.

The not-for-profit group will coordinate all donations for residents impacted by the fires on behalf of the Queensland Government and affected regional councils.

GIVIT chief executive officer Juliette Wright said she was thrilled to partner with the bank in this vital appeal to support Queenslanders.

“These fires have been an unprecedented event in the state,” she said.

“The needs of residents who have lost their homes will continue to change throughout the long recovery phase as people rebuild their lives.”

Westpac Queensland state general manager Greg Crocombe said the bank was proud to partner with GIVIT to raise vital support for those affected by the bushfires.

“These times are extremely hard emotionally, physically as well as financially, which is why we are committed to helping these communities in any way we can,” Mr Crocombe said.

GIVIT does not take administration costs out of donations and has a firm policy of buying locally whenever possible to support local communities as they rebuild.

Donations can be made in person at any Westpac branch in Queensland or online at givit.org.au.
