Warwick quick in Bulls squad

-

CRICKET: The Queensland Bulls have retained Warwick paceman Mark Steketee for their JLT Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania in Hobart.

The Bulls leading wicket taker this season Steketee secured his place in the team claiming 4-49 against Victoria taking his total to 21.

Queensland have also recalled experienced pace bowler Peter George.

Riding high off the back of a strong win over Victoria at the Gabba last week, the Bulls will be without captain Usman Khawaja who is on duty with the Australian team ahead of the opening Domain Test match against India in Adelaide.

Batsman Sam Heazlett, named 12th man for the Bulls last week, retains his spot in the squad after scoring a sparkling century for the Queensland Academy of Sport 2nd XI in their Toyota Futures League win over Western Australia.

George played in the opening Shield game against Tasmania at the Gabba, taking five wickets in the loss to the Tigers. He has claimed 10 wickets in the 2nd XI competition so far at an average of 19.8 as well as 14 wickets for Wynnum-Manly in the Bulls Masters Queensland Premier Cricket competition

Wicket-keeper Jimmy Peirson will again captain the team in Khawaja’s absence.

Queensland’s win over competition leaders Victoria lifted them into fifth spot.
