Popular bakery expands to CBD

ONE of Toowoomba’s most popular bakeries has opened in a second, more central location.

Rehannan and Geordy Theodosis took over Theo’s Southtown Bakery 14 years ago, and on Saturday the couple opened Theo’s Bakery at Grand Central.

The bakery at Southtown Shopping Centre is known for being a family-orientated business with some of the best baked goods in town.

They use only fresh ingredients and make their products by hand, fresh every day.

Mr Theodosis has a Greek background and his heritage plays a big part in how they look after their customers and how they make their products.

In the new store, on level one next to Woolworths, customers can get their hands on bee sting doughnuts, sausage rolls, pies, and a range of sourdough and speciality breads.

Mrs Theodosis said they tried to stick to the traditional baked goods.

“We try not to be too fancy, but we also like to keep things interesting so sometimes we’ll change things up,” she said.

“A lot of our traditional baked goods sell well such as our vanilla slice and fresh cream or custard doughnuts.

“Our pies and sausage rolls are big sellers too.”

Mrs Theodosis said opening a second store in the CBD was a way to reach more people.

“It’s a great location surrounded by Woolworths, the butcher and fresh food stalls,” she said.

“We’re really visible and so far have had a great response.

“We are just going to keep working on serving the right products at our new city store as it is a different market.”
