VOLLEYBALL: Harristown State High School is poised to come back to Toowoomba with extra weight around their necks.

The Year 11 boys team are in the midst of an undefeated run in the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup in Melbourne, progressing through to the division three semi-finals and dropping just one set along the way.

Heading into the concluding stages of the tournament, the proud volleyball school is looking to add to their current haul of 26 medals from the competition to date.

“We have a team of Year 9, 10 and 11 boys playing in the Year 11 boys division three comp, who are undefeated to date, winning all of their six pool matches and they are well poised to make the gold medal match on Friday,” Harristown SHS volleyball director Glen Martin said.

“Their ability to close out matches has been the main thing that has stood out with all of the younger students competing very well in the older age group.

“The goal for the boys won’t be the outcome but striving toward focusing on executing their strategies and staying positive despite the game situation. We expect that if they maintain focus on the things they can control, they result will take care of itself.”

At time of printing, Harristown SHS was due to compete in their semi-final, with their medal game to be played today.
