Parents flick over to screen names

-

ARE you expecting or planning on having a baby next year?

Well, these are the names predicted to be huge in 2019 – with some inspired by cult TV shows that aren’t exactly childfriendly.

The Disney effect is still clear to see with the continued popularity of names such as Elsa and Anna from Frozen.

But we’ll also see names inspired by shows including Bodyguard, Game of Thrones and Killing Eve, according to Baby Centre.

Cult TV shows have been inspiring baby names for years – but which ones are on the rise right now?

With the final series of Game of Thrones on the horizon, the likes of Sansa, Tyrion, Jon and Dany (short for Daenerys) are thought to be gaining in popularity. Aria/Arya broke into the top 10 for the first time this year, and is likely to remain popular in 2019.

We can also look forward to the revival of more conventional names Julia and David, thanks to the success of UK drama Bodyguard.

With a second series of Killing Eve in the pipeline, Eve is also set to become more popular. BabyCentre says some might even plump for assassin Vilanelle or Oksana for their little girls.

Not all the new names are inspired by post-watershed TV shows.

Peter’s also on the rise, thanks to the popular rabbit – who had his first big-screen movie earlier this year. BabyCentre predicts a similar spike in popularity for naming kids after Peter Rabbit author, Beatrix Potter.
