Community responds to present theft

-

have rallied around a Harristown family who were robbed of their Christmas presents on Saturday.

In two days $520 has been donated to the family on GoFundMe, as mother Melissa Mogg comes to terms with the “daylight burglary”.

“There’s been a lot of support from the community, lots of nice comments online which is great,” Ms Mogg said.

“There have also been a lot of people who have offered to donate presents and money but I have declined because that isn’t what (the online post was) about.

“We don’t need material possessions, we are very lucky to have each other, but people have to be aware.”

The GoFundMe page was set up by Ms Mogg’s mother and is capped at $1000 to reRESIDENTS place the stolen items.

Donors left messages for the family, one said: “She and her family have been dealt a cruel blow and deserve Christmas to be a happy time. Good luck guys.”

Ms Mogg said in yesterday’s interview with The Chronicle that she would be unable to replace the gifts before Christmas by herself. She said her family was still recovering from the invasion of privacy caused by the break-in.

Toowoomba police are appealing to anyone with information about the crime to contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24 hours per day.
