INLAND RAIL
IT IS obvious that, no matter where the Inland Rail will finally locate, it will resume and interfere with the workings of some agricultural farms.
It is utterly essential that the exact location of the rail be determined as soon as humanly possible and that resumption officers interview the landholders as quickly as possible, to determine how much their farms will be devarail. lued because of this
Queensland resumption laws are very explicit assuring landholders will be no worse off following resumption.
There is an immediate problem where the landholder wishes to sell their land before the exact location of the resumption and farm access across the resumed land is known.
Therefore, where the landholders have raised this problem with Inland Rail, resumption officers should interview the landholder as a matter of urgency immediately the rail resumption requirements are known and come to an agreement if possible.
I understand that Inland Rail is hoping to determine the exact location of the rail between Gowrie and the NSW border in the first quarter of 2019 and it is hoped that the Queensland Government has its resumption officers on site immediately to quell the legitimate concerns of some landholders.
