Fight the war on waste while looking stylish
A SEWING school in Toowoomba is teaching a sustainable approach to designing your wardrobe.
Margaret Adam Sewing School has classes for beginner and advanced sewers, teaching attendees how they can make a difference to the planet, fighting a war on waste all while still looking stylish.
Owner Margaret Adam said everyone could still look fabulous in their clothes, but it was also important to appreciate the resources that were needed to make a piece of clothing.
“Television shows such as The War on Waste, remind us that we can all make a difference to leaving the planet in as good a state as we can for future generations,” she said.
She said there were classes to suit everyone from a very beginner to the most experienced sewer.
“The programs are flexible, and it is possible to move in and out of the programs,” she said.
“My passion and aim are about working with each client and build the styles, patterns and skills needed to make clothes that they love to wear.”
Ms Adam also offers wardrobe therapy where she helps residents go through their cluttered wardrobe to decide what can stay, what can be altered to be wearable again and what can be removed.
The Margaret Adam Sewing School is running workshops throughout the month of January to introduce people to a sustainable wardrobe.
