McNab to build village
Contractor revealed for golf club’s new $30m retirement facility
CONSTRUCTION on a new $30 million retirement village at the Toowoomba Golf Club should start within months, after the primary contractor was announced.
Aura Holdings, which will run the 78-unit development on Rowbotham St in Middle Ridge, has revealed Toowoomba company McNab Construction would build it once detailed designs were completed.
Aura Holdings co-owner and director Mark Taylor said work had already begun with architects to bring the project to fruition.
“Cox Architects, Aura and McNab are heading past design documentation,” he said.
“We’re just refining the design to something that can actually be built.
“Design documentation is laying out the theoretical, and now we’re at the stage of the making the theoretical happen.”
Once the final design was finished, Mr Taylor said the company would launch the sales period, with members of the Toowoomba Golf Club to receive priority offers.
“We would foresee we’ll properly launch sales in April and as soon as we’re happy with pre-sales, we’ll be able to obtain senior funding,” he said.
“You really want to wait until your final designs until you go to market.
“We’ll put a special campaign to the members first before we open to the public.”
The Middle Ridge development was approved by the Toowoomba Regional Council in August last year, despite protests from surrounding residents.
Many neighbours expressed concerns around tree clearing and other impacts on neighbouring properties.
Aura Holdings and the golf club returned to the councillors in December to request changes to certain conditions, which were granted.
Mr Taylor said the company hoped to start construction in the second half of 2019.
