Club unveils new track
Upgraded features at Echo Valley
TOOWOOMBA Motocross Club treasurer Bruce Krause is excited for the annual Mountain Man competition to be held on the club’s new track.
The club recently opened its new track with a special practice event held on Australia Day.
“We had about 210 riders come and try out the track on the day.” Mr Krause said.
He said the new track was approved the day before its launch.
“It’s a little daunting when you open a new track but the riders who used it provided excellent feedback to the club,” Mr Krause said.
“We held another practice day earlier this month with about another 200 riders using the track who also gave the new course a glowing review.
“A lot of the riders have enjoyed the course’s new features such as the ramps, jumps and flow of the track.
“The new track was certified to a standard to be able to host national events.”
The club invested $10,000 into the track’s redevelopment which saw 75 per cent of the course changed.
Mr Krause said a new irrigation system was also installed during the redevelopment.
“The new track will be a great feature for the club’s Mountain Man Motocross event in two weeks time,” he said.
“I think this new track is going to bring a lot more riders to Toowoomba during the event.”
The annual motocross event has riders travel from across Australia to Toowoomba to participate.
“There will be a lot of riders coming to Toowoomba wanting to put their skills to the test at the new track,” Mr Krause said.
“The natural terrain at the Echo Valley race track brings out the best in the riders and this new course will keep them on their toes.” .
The Mountain Man event will be on Saturday, February 23 and Sunday 24 at the Echo Valley Racetrack on Nelson St.
