CBD SHOPS

-

EVERYONE, especially the council, must quietly proud that be there are few empty shops for long in the Toowoomba CBD. This is in contrast with too many CBDs in other cities.

Our Central Business District has been expanding at a notable rate and we feel that the expansion of Grand Central has been of mutual benefit. However, there is no room for complacency. It would add little cost to the businesses if the council hired buses to take buyers free round the CBD and would attract considerable numbers of customers which would more than offset any additional rental.

It would make our CBD the preferred place to shop for many who are outside our region rather than go to Brisbane. Naturally, the rates for the CBD would increase slightly to cover much of the cost to the council.

We feel that such a service would be very attractive to bus owners who would be able to attract advertising both inside and outside the buses.

It would also be an easy method of advertising for shop tenants. After the initial trial period, the prospect of continual use of these buses would be wonderful for all concerned.
