Vinegar to help combat mould
Southern help coming for Townsville flood victims
IAN Henderson knows firsthand how hard it is to clean up after a flood, having been on the frontline as a volunteer firefighter in the wake of the Grantham floods in 2011.
So when the Australian Vinegar CEO learned of a call to help Townsville before the weekend, he knew exactly what he could do.
Australian Vinegar is now in the process of shipping four pallets of white vinegar to Townsville, to be given away for free on Friday.
The call from owners of Townsville convenience store Golf Links Mini Mart Chris and Upen Singh created a flurry of activity at the Stanthorpe-based company.
White vinegar is used to prevent and reduce mould growing in flood-affected homes.
Mr Singh requested at least four pallets of white vinegar to help him supply his regular customers who have desperately been trying to access the product which is in short supply.
“We have people coming in or calling every half an hour

looking for vinegar,” he said.
Australian Vinegar, Australia’s largest specialist vinegar maker, has set to work to pump out as much high concentrated vinegar as possible with a short lead time to support their fellow Queenslanders.
Mr Henderson said producing the vinegar in the company’s recently-built facilities in Stanthorpe was easy.
Sourcing additional containers and transporting the product to Townsville was trickier, he said.
The first shipment left Stanthorpe yesterday and will be available to Townsville residents for free from Fast and Ezy Golflinks Minimart from Friday, February 15.
